Kris Younger has spent 30 years working at numerous successful startups, including Sun Microsystems, Netscape, and NeXT, a company founded in 1985 by the late Steve Jobs after he left Apple.

By late last year, he was on a job search. While he considered opportunities in Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore, and Washington DC, he said he wasn’t too keen on moving, having lived in Delaware for over 20 years. He was then referred to Zip Code Wilmington where he now works as the Director of Education. It’s a venture that teaches people from all walks of life to code in the course of 12 weeks. “The students at Zip Code are aggressively trying to impact their lives with learning important Java code development skills. All of them have the ability to be coached, able to learn to learn, and think software development is something they really want to do. Being an instructor in such an environment is tremendous,” Kris shares. According to him, of all the many tech startups he has worked with, working at Zip Code is one of the most meaningful to him personally. “It’s way more fun than when I worked for Steve Jobs.”

As a resident of The Mill, Kris shares that he likes working there. “The buzz of the space is terrific, the environment very conducive to getting things done. It’s nice to work on the “cool floor” of the Nemours building.”
